Going Places! Whipped Cream and Other Delights Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass ARE the sound of the 'sixties. Period. End of sentence. Now, we strongly suggest you buy the recordings in their original state rather than reassembled in a compilation. The reason is simple. Each one is a quirky little masterpiece, each built around a basic theme. We particularly love these two because the themes are tangible...Whipped Cream is about food; Going Places! is about travel. What could be groovier? OK, just so's ya knows, the big hit on Whipped Cream is "A Taste of Honey"... plus you get "Lollipops and Roses" and "Whipped Cream", which are basically the two groovy cuts played constantly on ABC-TV show "The Dating Game". I mean, that's pretty high up on the grooviness scale. Going Places! includes the giant hits "Tijuana Taxi" and "Spanish Flea" (another "Dating Game" staple). If you must have a compilation, we suggest you go with Classics, Vol. 1. It's pretty much all of the most familiar cuts from the TJB years (it stops before Herb goes out on his own)... and from our perspective the best of the lot. Even if you don't recognize the titles, we guarantee you'll know most of these after you hear the first couple of measures. Here's what's on it:
